About
I earned my B.Sc. with Honours in Chemistry from Midnapore College (1988-91), Vidyasagar University, and my M.Sc. (Chemistry) from IIT, Kharagpur with a Specialization in Organic Chemistry (1992-94). After that, I started my doctoral research as a CSIR fellow at IIT, Kharagpur. Most of my research work was completed at IIT, KGP under the guidance of Prof. Shyamaprosad Goswami (1994-1999). Eventually, my mentor Prof. Goswami transferred from IIT KGP to B. E. College (D.U.) and hence I was awarded my Ph.D. degree in February 2001 from B. E. College (D.U.). Meanwhile, in April 1998 I was appointed lecturer at Jhargram Raj College (WBES) where I taught until my appointment in June 2008 as Associate Professor at IIEST, Shibpur (at that time BESU, Shibpur). I was promoted to full Professor in April 2013. I am currently serving as HAG Professor since August 2021 and former HOD of (i) the Department of Chemistry, (ii) the School of Community Science and Technology four times HOD, and (iii) the Centre for Health Care Science and Technology for four times HOD, here at IIEST, Shibpur. I have guided 25 Ph.D. students and 42 master's students in their dissertation work. I have acquired over 33 years of combined teaching and research experience.
